Although The Crosta Gallery is Betty's first gallery on the internet, it is not her first art gallery. She had two galleries in St. Helens: The Studio and the Brass Ring. The Tripod, her third gallery, was in Old Town Portland. During her 40 plus years as a professional artist, Betty gathered many feathers in her cap:
Betty's art Betty's works range from impressionistic to contemporary in style; her colors range from light to bold. She works with acrylics and oils. Recently her work has focused on colorful floral studies and pastoral landscapes, reminiscent of her childhood on Whidbey Island. She explains her approach to art. "Paintings are windows into another world, the world created by the artist. I believe this world is a magnificent, joyous one, highly rewarding to the senses, fulfilling, yet demanding. "It is never enough merely to look at a painting. The spectator must react. He must allow the painting to 'look' back. This is communication, not in a literal sense, but excitement of the deepest level of sympathetic feeling. "To me, color is the most important aspect of a painting; color evolves into pattern, pattern into form. When nothing more can be changed the painting is finished. No longer in a state of becoming, the picture expresses being." About The Crosta Gallery The works of art currently displayed on The Crosta Gallery will be joined by additional works every couple of weeks, so check back often.
